Dr Tony Neaverson graduated from the University of Queensland in 1959. During his undergraduate days he was Foundation President of the University Soccer Club President of the University Sports Union and of the Medical Students Association.

In 1961 he left Australia and undertook Post Graduate Work in the United Kingdom , gaining Membership of the Royal College of Physicians ( London) in 1965. During his last year in England he worked in the second Intensive care unit in England in Barnet north of London where he studied the degree of metabolic acidosis in acute myocardial infarcts.

He was appointed Senior Medical Registrar at Sydney Hospital where he was responsible for the Coronary Care Unit. He gained MRACP and later FRACP. His interest in ischaemic cardiology remained (in particular Preventive Cardiology) where he developed an Intensive Interval Training Programme for post infarcts in 1984 at Western Suburbs Hospital Sydney.

Since then the programme has evolved with significant input from other Health workers particularly in the fields of dietetics and psychology.

With the closure of Western Suburbs in the early 1990's the programme moved to Metropolitan Rehabilitation Hospital in Petersham and in 2000 to Noosa Hospital and Specialist Centre, Noosa.

Results from this programme have been presented both in Australia and New Zealand at the Cardiac Society Annual and Regional Meetings and internationally as follows:

"Effect of a Private high intensity Cardiac Rehabilitation Programme on cardiac fitness , HDL levels and life style modifications" Cardiac Society Hobart 1997.
