2007 Nu-Life Patient Graduation
Every year, patients on the Nu-Life Cardiac Programme join together for
an end of year celebration to receive Awards for individual health
achievements, and "diplomas" for a new lease on life.
Last year on Tuesday December 11th in the Central Qld
University Noosaville Nursing Campus, 140 patients in the Programme
attended the ceremony. Some of the 2007 patients recently featured in a
DVD video presentation speaking about their health and lifestyle
success. This DVD will be made available to Government, the health
industry and GP’s.
The Nu-Life Cardiac Rejuvenation Programme and Ramsay Health’s Noosa
Hospital, combined to present the Graduation Presentation as a
recognition for the patients who have achieved substantial changes in
their health and lifestyle, and who have saved our health system
substantial dollars through preventive medicine.
Presenting Awards were the Sunshine Coast Manager for Qld Health - Kevin
Hegarty, CEO of Noosa Hospital - James Thiedeman, and Tony Jennings - a
2006 patient who rose above many cardiac health adversities to compete
again in the gruelling Iron Man Coolangatta Gold Event on the Gold
Coast.

Dr Tony Neaverson
Tony has been an inspiration to everyone, both staff and patients on the
Programme in what can be achieved even after major cardiac surgical
intervention. His Presentation – “Inspired to live, live to Inspire” was
supported by graphic photos of himself competing in the gruelling Iron
Man Event.

As
the Nu- Life motto is “treating the patient not the disease”; the
Programme at the Heart Disease Prevention Centre enjoys a very high
compliance rate of over 70 percent over a two year period.
Preventive medicine will soon become a major part of the new Federal
Government’s Health policy and the Nu-life Cardiac Programme is one such
preventive health initiative right here on the Sunshine Coast that could
become a part of our public health system.

Channel Nine's "5.30 EXTRA" interview

Television network -Nine Network Brisbane’s
“5.30 Extra”, recently presented a health story relating to
cholesterol, good diet and exercise. The programme’s reporter Nicole
Mannigan, interviewed Nu-Life patient Rob Lucas about his diet and
making his own cholesterol reducing foods. Rob who has heart disease,
concentrates on combining good diet with the Nu-Life exercise programme
as his answer to reducing his heart attack risk.
Rob has been a keen Nu-Life patient driving the 4
hour round trip from Brisbane to Noosa three times per week to attend
the Programme. Dr Tony Neaverson commented to Nicole that good diet and
exercise are better in reducing heart risk but it is important to
combine them both. He added that the new products containing fibre are
important but it was advisable to have at least 30grams of fibre each
day in the diet
